We are a community of researchers who share a common passion for understanding and improving the lives of people in developing countries.
Our mission is to:
Build a strong and vibrant community of development economists in the Australasian region, fostering collaboration, exchange of ideas, mentoring and networking opportunities.
Improve the quality and impact of research on development issues, supporting innovative and policy-relevant projects, disseminating findings to a wide audience, and engaging with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Increase the funding and recognition of development economics as a priority area, advocating for more resources and support from funding bodies, academic institutions, government agencies and NGOs.
Enhance the capacity and skills of development economists in the region, providing training, workshops, seminars, conferences and other learning opportunities.
Raise the awareness and appreciation of development economics among the public, media, educators and students, highlighting its relevance, importance and contributions to society.
